The Reason Taylor Swift Is Referenced Twice in Blake Lively’s Legal Filing Against Justin Baldoni
Taylor Swift and Blake Lively have shared a close friendship for nearly a decade, and now the singer’s name has appeared in Lively’s legal complaint against *It Ends with Us* co-star Justin Baldoni.
Lively, 37, has filed a lawsuit against Baldoni, 40, and others, including his PR team, accusing them of orchestrating a campaign to «destroy» her reputation during the film’s publicity period.
She also alleges that Baldoni, who directed the film, sexually harassed her on set, citing incidents such as showing her explicit images and videos, probing her personal sex life, attempting to add intimate scenes she had not agreed to, and making inappropriate remarks about her weight.
Swift, 35, is mentioned twice in the legal filing, specifically in a «scenario planning document» allegedly created by Baldoni’s PR team at TAG PR, led by crisis management expert Melissa Nathan.
In the document, the pop star is referenced in the context of discussing potential strategies for targeting Lively negatively in the media.
The «Scenario Planning» document reportedly suggests that TAG could «explore planting stories about the weaponization of feminism, claiming that people in [Lively’s] circle, such as Taylor Swift, have been accused of using these tactics to ‘bully’ others into getting what they want,» according to the complaint.
Although Baldoni allegedly reviewed the document and texted film producer Jamey Heath expressing that he was “[n]ot in love with” it due to concerns over its lack of «defense,» Swift is mentioned again in an alleged message from PR expert Melissa Nathan to Jennifer Abel.
In this message, Nathan considers the influence of Lively’s fanbase while discussing a potential social media strategy aimed at suppressing negative content about Baldoni and amplifying criticism of Lively.
She acknowledges that, due to Lively’s close friendship with Swift, the actress benefits from the support of the pop star’s large fan following.
In a message included in the complaint, Nathan allegedly wrote, “We’ve seen even the smallest issues blow up on social media, while huge crises barely make a dent—it’s impossible to predict at this stage.
However, [Lively] does have part of the [Swift] fanbase behind her, so we will take it very seriously.”
Lively and Swift have been close friends since 2015, with the singer even referencing the names of Lively’s daughters, Betty, 5, James, 10, and Inez, 8, in the lyrics of her *Folklore* album.
Recently, Lively’s husband, *Deadpool* star Ryan Reynolds, confirmed to *Deadline* that Swift is the godmother to their daughters.
