Donna Kelce has always been a strong role model for her boys.
For Glamour’s 2024 Women of the Year: The Moms issue, the 71-year-old grandmother discussed how she and ex-husband Ed Kelce raised their kids, retired Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce, 36, and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, 34, before they became famous.
«I was a business banker for a bank in numerous states. I wanted to move ahead. I worked so hard. «I was a major breadwinner in the family,» Kelce explained.
«And I think it’s important for kids to see that a woman can do whatever she wants, but I did stand still, too.»
«My husband and I knew that our marriage was not working, but we stayed together for the kids,» Donna told me. «We had a pretty friendly relationship. So we could do that and keep their lives as normal as possible. But in one respect, I had to wait several years before I could move forward on my own.»
She also discussed her maternity experience, stating that «being a mom is probably the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life.»
«It’s so much easier to just go to work, but raising children, when they’re totally dependent on you and you’re trying to do the best you can with the limited resources that you have, it’s the most daunting task I’ve ever had to do,» Donna told me.
Donna has been making time for herself now that her boys have grown up.
She will appear in the Hallmark Channel’s upcoming Christmas film, Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story, based in Kansas City.
