The $6,500 Bull: A Bold Investment in Quality Livestock

I recently invested $6,500 in a registered Black Angus bull, hoping to enhance my herd’s genetics.

He looked like the ideal specimen—muscular, healthy, and exactly what I needed. I was eager to see how he’d perform.

But once I introduced him to the cows, my enthusiasm quickly dimmed. Instead of taking an interest in the herd, he spent his time grazing by himself.

Days turned into weeks, and he showed no signs of doing what I bought him for. Not once did he attempt to breed.

Disappointment started to set in. I began to question whether he was simply too young or just not up to the task. It was beginning to feel like I had thrown money away.

Eventually, I called in the vet. After a thorough examination, he confirmed the bull was perfectly healthy—just inexperienced.

Then he handed me a bottle of supplements and said, “Give him one of these daily.”

I wasn’t expecting much, but I followed the instructions. Within 48 hours, everything changed.

That bull sprang into action—breeding all my cows, then crashing through the fence to reach the neighbor’s herd. The transformation was unbelievable.

The neighbors weren’t exactly thrilled, but I assured them I’d reinforce the fencing. Secretly, I was impressed.

Out of curiosity, I tried one of the supplements myself. It tasted like peppermint. Hard to believe that something so simple could have such a massive impact.

In hindsight, I realized I’d nearly given up too soon. What seemed like a costly mistake turned out to be one of the smartest purchases I’ve made. Now all I need is better fencing—and maybe a few more of those mystery pills.
