Selena Gomez lashes out in response to comedian Tony Hinchcliffe’s quip about Puerto Rico trash
At Donald Trump’s last event, Selena Gomez was the most recent celebrity to reply to Tony Hinchcliffe’s contentious remark about Puerto Rico.

In an interview with Variety, the 32-year-old actress stated that she «strongly disagreed with any comments that were made recently» following the comedian’s comparison of Puerto Rico to a «floating island of garbage.»
‘I absolutely want to stick for my people,’ explained Selena, a Texas native of Mexican ancestry.
Recently, the celebrity posted a video of herself casting her ballot. «People sometimes forget that the one vote can change everything,» she said, explaining why she shared the video.

On her way to the Wizards Beyond Waverly Place premiere in Los Angeles on Monday, Gomez left her official election envelope in a mail box.
She also added a matching handbag with her ‘I Voted’ badge to her captivating red sequin Rodarte outfit.
She reminded her more than 58.2 TikTok followers that it was time to cast their votes.

She said in 2020 that, as a Democrat in a blue state, she had previously believed her vote didn’t count, therefore this is her second time casting a ballot in a presidential election.
At the time, she said to Vogue, «I’m not ashamed to say this, but I kind of—this was my first time.» And I’m going to say that because I’ve never felt like my vote mattered, and I’m now telling others that this is really true. Each and every vote matters. «Oh, well what does it matter?» is what some individuals think when they get inside their brain.

The crowd’s reaction to the joke was muted, and Republicans, Democrats, and even Trump’s own campaign widely denounced it. In response, a number of Puerto Rican celebrities shared their intentions for the U.S. territory and endorsed Harris.
Lopez showed his 250 million followers Harris’ Puerto Rico stance with the same video and other slides.

‘The man hurled towels at you and obstructed financial help in Hurricane Maria and you Boris believe he’s your guy, WAKE UP VOTE!!!!!!’ said New York rapper Fat Joe. He truly feels this way about you.
Puerto Rico deployed more than 48,000 troops to Vietnam, and more than 345 Purple Hearts were given out. «This bravery is worthy of respect,» she continued. «Educate yourself!»

In an unusual move, the Trump campaign distanced itself from Hinchcliffe.
Senior advisor Danielle Alvarez stated in a statement that the joke did not represent the campaign’s or President Trump’s opinions.
