Sarah Michelle Gellar Skipped Work to Attend Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour for an Incredibly Relatable Reason
Sarah Michelle Gellar might just see herself as a proud member of Taylor Swift’s «Tortured Poets Department.»
During a Friday, December 20 appearance on *The Drew Barrymore Show* to promote *Dexter: Original Sin* alongside Christian Slater, the *Scooby-Doo* star revealed that she took a day off work to attend Swift’s *Eras Tour*.
The 47-year-old actress shared that she was recently in Miami for one of Swift’s October shows, describing the performance as “absolutely incredible.” Reflecting on her dedication, she joked about Slater, 55, saying, “He knew this was the one thing I absolutely cared about at work.”
Gellar added with a laugh, “I told them, ‘I just need a Friday off.’” Her workplace, curious about her sudden request, even asked if everything was okay with her kids.
“Well, I’m heading to Miami to catch the *Eras Tour*,” Gellar recalled saying. “I saw it in L.A., but she didn’t perform *Tortured Poets Department*. I had to see that live—and I also got to experience Florence Welch!”
Gellar attended one of Taylor Swift’s *Eras Tour* shows at SoFi Stadium in August 2023, just months before Swift unveiled her latest album. *TTPD* dropped in April, and by May, the 14-time Grammy winner surprised fans with a new stage segment dedicated to the album.
One standout track, “Florida!!!,” features Welch, 38, who joined Swift on stage for all three Miami performances—a moment Gellar described as “completely next-level.”
In addition to the Miami shows, Welch also made a surprise appearance on August 20 at Wembley Stadium to perform the high-energy duet. Reflecting on the collaboration, Swift wrote on Instagram, “Performing ‘Florida!!!’ with Flo for the first time was unforgettable, and Ed’s energy brought me right back to our *Red Tour* memories.”
