Rihanna Takes the Stage for Karaoke, Singing Two of Her Hits — and the Internet Can’t Stop Talking

Rihanna is wrapping up 2024 in a down-to-earth style — with a fun night of karaoke.

In videos shared by fans online, the «Diamonds» hitmaker was spotted at a New York City Girls Love Karaoke event on Saturday, December 28.

She treated the crowd to a performance of her 2016 tracks «Needed Me» and «Sex With Me» from her album *Anti*.

Though she mentioned having only five minutes and feeling low on energy, Rihanna still took the time to entertain the karaoke-goers.

Fans were excited to see Rihanna, 36, enjoying herself by performing her own songs at a karaoke night. One fan gushed, «Awee she’s having fun.»

Another commented, «Imagine going to karaoke night and getting a free Rihanna performance.» While some fans critiqued her vocals, others defended her spontaneous appearance. «Say what you will about Rihanna’s singing at a drunken karaoke event, but she will always be THAT GIRL,» one fan remarked.

«The MIC is always ON and that TONE is unmatched. 😘»

Another fan shared, «That karaoke video of Rihanna? I can’t really hate because I sound just like that when I’m drunk and having fun with friends 😭.»

Although it’s been nearly a decade since Rihanna released a full album, the singer spoke in 2023 about the pressures she places on herself to create music that would surpass *Anti*, which she considers her «most cohesive album.»

She expressed in an interview with *British Vogue* that, while it can be challenging, music should be an outlet for creativity rather than a race for perfection.

«It just has to be something that feels good,» she said. «It could just be a song I like. It literally could be that simple.»

While she hasn’t released a new full-length album since 2016, Rihanna did contribute two original songs — «Lift Me Up» and «Born Again» — to the *Black Panther: Wakanda Forever* soundtrack in 2022.

In April, she teased new music, hinting that her upcoming tracks are «so good.»

Rihanna also celebrated the arrival of her sons, Riot and RZA, with boyfriend A$AP Rocky in 2022 and 2023.

In addition to her musical career, she launched Fenty Beauty in 2017, expanding it to include makeup, fragrance, and haircare products, as well as her Savage x Fenty lingerie line in 2018.

The superstar also made a memorable return to the stage during the 2023 Super Bowl Halftime Show, delivering a spectacular performance featuring hits like «Bitch Better Have My Money,» «Where Have You Been?,» «Only Girl in the World,» «We Found Love,» and «Umbrella.»
