Prince Harry’s former polo friend criticizes his “odd” new Netflix series, stating that the Duke can’t come back to England without appearing “foolish.”

Prince Harry’s Netflix series about polo may have been panned by critics, but many might have expected his former polo teammates to offer a more favorable review. However, Tommy Severn, the captain of Polo England and someone who has played alongside both Prince William and Harry, has added his voice to the criticism, calling the show «very weird.»

Severn also commented that the California-based Duke «can’t return to England now,» as any attempt to do so would make him appear «foolish.»

The polo captain expressed confusion over how little Harry features in the series, which has failed to break the top ten of Netflix’s global rankings. «It seemed more focused on Timmy and Tim Dutta than on the Prince, who doesn’t show up until nearly the end,» Severn remarked.

Timmy, 23, plays for a US team funded by his father.

Severn’s family has long been close to the royal brothers, with Harry and William once keeping their ponies at his grandfather Christopher Hanbury’s polo stud in Gloucestershire. Harry also spent time at Severn’s family ranch in Argentina during his gap year.

When asked why the Duke didn’t mention his early polo years with Severn and his family, Severn responded, «I have no idea!»

He continued, «I think Harry’s severed ties, so if he returned now, he’d just look foolish.»

However, he didn’t completely rule out the possibility of Harry returning to the UK and the royal fold in the future, adding, «William might step in to help him because they were close – that’s the bond between brothers.»

Harry’s Netflix series, *Polo*, is intended to showcase the sport’s «fierce rivalries.»

Yet, the 40-year-old Prince only makes a brief appearance in a few scenes throughout the five episodes.
