Pete Davidson has shared rare thoughts about his ex-fiancée Ariana Grande following their 2018 breakup, expressing, «I hope she wins the Oscar.»
Pete Davidson is reassuring fans that there’s «nothing but love» between him and Ariana Grande.
In a rare interview with Page Six ahead of the *SNL50: The Anniversary Special, the comedian, who was briefly engaged to Grande in 2018, praised her for her recent Academy Award nomination.
«When we see each other, which isn’t often because we don’t run in the same circles, it’s all love,» said Davidson, 31. «I hope she wins the Oscar, I hope she takes the gold.»
Reflecting on his past relationships, Davidson said, “I’ve had some pretty adult relationships with some pretty amazing women, and when they end, it’s been cool.”
He and Grande were engaged for about four months in 2018, after starting their relationship in May that year.
They called off their engagement in October 2018. Both have since moved on, with Davidson’s most recent breakup being with Madelyn Cline in July 2024, and Grande linked to Wicked costar Ethan Slater since 2023.
Davidson also opened up about the intense public scrutiny he faced due to his relationships.
“It was pretty humiliating and upsetting, honestly,” he admitted.
“Everyone is dating everyone in Hollywood, but because I’m ugly, they wrote about me.
I was harassed for like, five years, and it made my life a living hell.”
He described the experience as «embarrassing,» wishing that the focus would have been on his work instead.
«I was one of the youngest-ever cast members on SNL, and all that got pushed aside because of who I was dating,» he said, referencing his departure from the show in 2022.
Recently, Davidson became the face of Reformation’s Valentine’s Day campaign and also showcased his tattoo-free body after undergoing a $200,000 ink-removal process.
He’s also voiced a role in the animated film Dog Man, which premiered late last month.
As for Grande, she’s nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the 97th Academy Awards for her portrayal of Glinda in Wicked, which received 10 nominations overall.
On the day of the nominations, Grande shared her emotional response on social media.
«I cannot stop crying, to no one’s surprise,» she wrote, expressing her gratitude for the honor.
