Meghan Markle starts off 2025 by making her return to Instagram with a video filmed by Prince Harry!

Meghan Markle has returned to Instagram!

On January 1, the 43-year-old kicked off the new year with a fresh Instagram account.

There had been speculation that the handle @meghan belonged to the Duchess of Sussex, and her first post from the account was a video of her in white, running along the beach and writing «2025» in the sand before running out of frame.

Her husband, Prince Harry, filmed the unfiltered video at a public beach near their Montecito, California home.

Along with her debut post, the @meghan account updated its profile picture to a black-and-white image of Meghan smiling in white attire, distinct from her beach look in the video.

Sources close to Meghan say she is excited to rejoin social media as a means of reconnecting with global communities and sharing updates on her ongoing projects. Her goal is to set an example of how social media can foster positivity and joy.

This update follows over two years after Meghan hinted she might return to Instagram during an interview with *The Cut* in August 2022.

“Do you want to know a secret?» she had said at the time. «I’m getting back… on Instagram.»

Meghan previously expressed uncertainty about returning to Instagram, having had a presence on the platform before marrying Prince Harry in 2018.

She had 3 million followers on her personal account and lifestyle blog, *The Tig*, which she shut down in 2017 before deleting all social media in January 2018. Reflecting on the change, she said it was a huge adjustment.

After their wedding, Meghan and Harry’s royal work was shared on the @KensingtonRoyal account, with strict rules for sharing family moments.

Meghan later questioned why she had to give photos of her children to the media before sharing them with loved ones.

In 2019, before Archie’s birth, they launched their own Instagram, @SussexRoyal, which gained a million followers in six hours, providing a personal touch to their royal duties. The account stopped posting in 2020 after they stepped back from royal duties.

Their final post included a message of hope, and comments were later disabled. Shortly after, they launched The Archewell Foundation, expanding to include Archewell Audio and Archewell Productions.
