Meghan Markle is heartbroken over the passing of her rescue beagle, Guy, sharing, «I’ve shed more tears than I can count.»

Meghan Markle is grieving the loss of her beloved rescue beagle, Guy.

On January 7, the Duchess of Sussex, 43, shared the sad news on her newly created Instagram account, expressing her sorrow: «I’ve cried too many tears to count – tears that make you think maybe the shower will wash them away or convince you they aren’t there.

But they are, and that’s okay too. Thank you, my sweet Guy, for your endless love and companionship. You filled my life in ways I can’t fully express. Always, Meghan.»

Guy was a loyal companion through many of Meghan’s significant life moments, from her time on *Suits* to her engagement to Prince Harry and even their royal wedding. He also made an appearance in the trailer for her upcoming lifestyle series, *With Love, Meghan*, where he was seen comfortably nestled in his dog bed by her side in the kitchen.

In her heartfelt tribute, Meghan posted a collection of photos and videos of Guy over the years, including moments with her children, Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3. She recalled how in 2015, she adopted the beagle from a rescue organization in Canada after he had been left in a kill shelter in Kentucky with just days to live.

Meghan described how she instantly fell in love with him, naming him «Guy» after his small, frail appearance.

«He was the best guy any girl could have asked for,» she wrote. «If you followed me on Instagram back then, you saw him often—he was with me through it all: my time on *Suits*, my engagement, marriage, and becoming a mother.

He was there for the quiet moments, the chaotic ones, and everything in between.»

She also shared that Guy had survived a devastating accident just before she moved to the UK, requiring several surgeries and months of recovery.

Although doctors initially doubted he would walk again, a veterinarian named Dr. Noel Fitzpatrick helped him regain his mobility. Meghan and Harry made late-night trips to visit him during his lengthy recovery in Surrey.

«I’ll forever be thankful to Noel and his team, the vets at Queen West Animal Hospital, and all those who supported us,» Meghan added.

In her tribute, Meghan also highlighted Guy’s rescue journey, which began at the Montgomery County Animal Shelter in Kentucky before being transported to Ontario, Canada, in 2015.

Meghan had been searching for a dog through Petfinder when she came across Guy’s profile and immediately knew he was the one for her.

She quickly submitted an adoption application, which she returned just ten minutes later. Meghan has always been a proud rescue dog owner, sharing how much joy adopting Guy brought into her life.
