Lady Gaga made an unexpected appearance ahead of the 2025 Super Bowl, delivering a heartfelt tribute to victims of recent tragedies, including the New Orleans terror attack, Los Angeles wildfires, and deadly plane crashes in Philadelphia and Washington, D.C., as well as those affected by Hurricane Helene.
Her prerecorded performance aired during the pre-game broadcast on February 9, following an introduction by commentators Michael Strahan and Tom Brady, who wore NOLA Strong and L.A. Fire Department T-shirts, respectively.
Strahan reflected on the resilience of New Orleans, while Brady emphasized the strength of unity in the face of tragedy.
Gaga, dressed in a white oversized hat and bell-sleeve dress, performed a captivating rendition of her 2022 ballad «Hold My Hand» from Top Gun: Maverick.
The moving performance was accompanied by a camera pan to first responders and audience members in the stadium.
Recently, at the Grammys, Gaga launched her new era with the debut of the music video for «Abracadabra,» aired during a commercial break on February 2.
The black, white, and red-themed video featured 40 backup dancers and symbolized a battle between light and dark, according to a release.
Shortly after, Gaga revealed on social media that both the song and video were available to stream.
«Abracadabra» will be part of her upcoming seventh album Mayhem, due out March 7.
The album will include her recent singles «Disease» and «Die with a Smile,» the latter of which won a Grammy for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.
Gaga described the album’s creative process as an act of reassembling a broken mirror, where imperfection still creates something beautiful.
