Kim Kardashian explains why her family is forgoing their extravagant annual Christmas Eve party in favor of a more «intimate» gathering this year.

Kim Kardashian is giving fans a peek into her family’s holiday plans, including a change in one beloved tradition for 2024.

During an interview with *Vogue* at the opening of her new SKIMS store in New York City on December 12, the 44-year-old entrepreneur revealed that the Kardashian-Jenner family is opting for a «really low-key» Christmas Eve gathering this year, instead of their usual extravagant celebration.

«We have a lot of construction going on, so we’re keeping it intimate and family-focused, which I’m really excited about,» Kim explained.

«Of course, we’ll still dress to the nines, because that’s just how we do it,» she added.

Kim Kardashian reflected on the many «legendary Christmas Eve parties» her family has hosted over the years, including a $1.3 million winter wonderland in 2018, a 2022 celebration with a performance by Sia, and their most recent gathering, which had a ski-lodge theme.

“The best is yet to come,” Kardashian shared with *Vogue* about the extravagant celebrations.

«Our kids absolutely love them, and now their friends are eager to join in. It’s such a fun tradition.»

Originally held at Kris Jenner’s Calabasas mansion since 1978, the Kardashian-Jenner Christmas Eve party has evolved into a grand affair, often hosted at the homes of various family members, including Kourtney Kardashian Barker’s residence.

In November, Kim Kardashian kicked off the holiday season by sharing a glimpse of her festive preparations, showcasing her stunning faux snow-covered Christmas tree on Instagram Stories.

The towering tree, which seemed to stretch up to the second floor of her California home, was accompanied by the seasonal song «Twinkling Lights» by Auni.

In addition to the holiday festivities, Kim has also been celebrating her children.

On December 5, she shared heartfelt Instagram photos of herself snuggling with her son, Saint West, as they marked his 9th birthday. Kim, who co-parents Saint, along with her daughters North, 11, and Chicago, 6, and son Psalm, 5, with ex-husband Kanye West, has been cherishing special moments with her family this month.
