Katie Holmes is rejecting claims that her daughter, Suri Cruise, 18, inherited a trust fund from her father, Tom Cruise, calling the report «completely false.»
Katie Holmes is addressing rumors surrounding her daughter Suri Cruise’s finances.
On Sunday, Dec. 8, the 45-year-old actress took to Instagram to deny a report which claimed that 18-year-old Suri had become a millionaire after accessing a trust fund from her father, Tom Cruise.
The report suggested that Suri gained access to her trust fund from the 62-year-old star when she turned 18 in April, and that she also had another trust fund from Holmes.
«Completely false,» Holmes wrote over a screenshot of the article.
In the caption, she added, «Enough.» Holmes has consistently expressed her desire to shield her daughter from the negative attention of the media. In April 2023, the Dawson’s Creek alum shared rare insights about Suri in an interview with Glamour, emphasizing her commitment to keeping her daughter out of the public eye due to her early exposure.
«What has been really important for me with my daughter, because she was so visible at a young age, is I really like to protect her,» Holmes explained.
«I’m incredibly grateful to be her parent,» Katie Holmes shared. «She’s an amazing person.»
In June of this year, Holmes and Suri were seen celebrating the teenager’s high school graduation in New York City. The two posed for photos and shared a hug as Suri donned a red cap and gown over a white dress.
For her graduation program, the teen used the name «Suri Noelle» rather than «Suri Cruise.» In a 2023 interview with Holmes spoke about the possibility of involving Suri in her work, expressing her hope that «she always does something in my films,» adding, «I always ask her.»
Holmes explained, «Both of those experiences stem from what I love about our industry: you work on these projects, and you become a family with people.
It’s a safe, beautiful, and creative space. So, including someone I love so much comes from a place of love.»
«That’s how I like to work,» Holmes continued. «I want to create that feeling. Having her there was incredibly meaningful to me because she’s my heart.»
