Jennifer Lopez will hold on to the 8.5-carat green diamond engagement ring given to her by Ben Affleck, according to details from their divorce settlement.
Jennifer Lopez will retain her 8.5-carat green diamond engagement ring from Ben Affleck as part of their divorce settlement.
Affleck, 52, proposed to Lopez, 53, in 2021 with a rare green diamond ring after they rekindled their romance.
The couple tied the knot in a small Las Vegas ceremony in July 2022 and later celebrated with a bigger event in Georgia surrounded by family and friends.
In August 2024, Lopez filed for divorce, and by January 6, their divorce was finalized, as revealed in court documents.
The documents specify that Affleck «disclaims and waives all right, title, and interest» in Lopez’s personal belongings, which include her clothing, jewelry, and other possessions.
Lopez will keep the striking green diamond engagement ring, valued at over $5 million.
The radiant-cut stone is surrounded by two half-moon diamonds and set in platinum.
Engraved on the band is a message that reads «not.going.anywhere.» At the time of their engagement, Lopez explained in her newsletter that green was a color of personal significance to her, calling it her lucky color.
A diamond expert had previously noted that natural green diamonds are extremely rare, and the one Lopez received would have taken extensive time to cut and perfect. The expert also predicted that the ring’s value would increase with time.
The day before their divorce settlement was finalized, Lopez visited Affleck’s Los Angeles home, accompanied by her 16-year-old child, Emme, while Affleck’s 12-year-old son, Samuel, was also present.
A source shared that both families maintain a good relationship, with the kids enjoying their time together. Despite the divorce, Lopez and Affleck continue to prioritize the happiness of their children, with no plans of rekindling their romance.
Both spent Christmas with their respective children and had a peaceful holiday.
