James Woods described his home as «a miracle» after being told it had burned down in the L.A. fires, only to find it still standing.
James Woods’ home has withstood the ravaging Palisades Fire, defying expectations.
The 77-year-old actor shared a video on X, revealing his surprise when he visited what he thought would be the charred remains of his property, only to find it still intact.
“A miracle has happened,” Woods wrote, sharing a view from his deck.
“We were told our home was gone forever, but it’s still standing. In this devastating landscape, ‘standing’ is relative, but the smoke and damage are far less severe than the destruction around us.”
In the video, Woods stood on a hill overlooking Palisades High School and the scorched surroundings. The fire’s destruction stretched out as far as the eye could see, with the sound of helicopters buzzing in the background.
“Oh my God. That’s our neighbor’s house,” Woods said as he panned to the left, visibly taken aback by the damage.
He then showed his yard, where a young man named Francis was helping put out fires on the hillside. “Francis, whose father we saved, is now putting out fires on our property,” Woods noted.
Woods provided a full 360-degree view of the area, with plumes of smoke in the distance.
He zoomed in on his neighbor’s yard, visibly stunned by the extent of the damage.
In a separate post, Woods shared a photo and further details about Francis’s 94-year-old father, who had been rescued.
“The man on the left, Robert Trinkkeller, is a hero,” Woods wrote, describing how the elderly man had stayed behind during the evacuation order.
After learning that the caregiver had left him behind, Woods called his neighbor in Boston, who then flew out to help the situation.
Woods praised his neighbors for their kindness. “If you are blessed to have such wonderful neighbors, you are luckier than you know,” he wrote.
On January 7, Woods had mentioned that he had just finished renovating his home before the fire broke out.
The following day, he gave an update as the fire encroached on his property, triggering the smoke detectors.
“I couldn’t believe our lovely little home held on this long. It feels like losing a loved one,” he posted.
Woods also expressed gratitude to his supporters.
“To all the wonderful people who’ve reached out to us, thank you for your concern.
We managed to evacuate safely. I don’t know yet if our home survived, but sadly, some houses on our street didn’t.”
