Her Wicked Character ‘Might Be a Little in the Closet’, Ariana Grande reveals

In Wicked, Ariana Grande speculates that there may be more to Glinda’s tale.

She and costar Cynthia Erivo were questioned about fans who support their primary characters, Glinda and Elphaba, as a romantic couple in an interview with the U.K. publication Gay Times.

«I think Elphie, she goes wherever the wind blows,» Erivo, 37, remarked in reference to her green witch. She may be in love with Glinda. She loves love, I believe.

Additionally, I believe that there is nothing wrong with honoring their strong bond.

«There is a genuine bond between them. «You know,» Erivo said, «that is pure love, which is probably why people are shipping it. «Because what they build with each other is an unbreakable bond and love.»

Grande, 31, was added. «And honesty and trust. Simply said, a safe haven for one another, which is what all relationships—romantic or platonic—should be.

It’s possible that Glinda is a little secretive. You never know! Give it some more time.

«I mean, it is just a true love, and I think that transcends sexuality,» the singer, who, in the movie, portrays the popular Shiz University student who must live with Elphaba before they become friends, stated. «There’s just a profound sense of safety that exists between us.

And that’s most likely the reason [fans] ship it.

Glinda and Elphaba transform from rivals to friends in school in Wicked. The plot has romances: despite Prince Fiyero’s (played by Jonathan Bailey) covert pursuit of Elphaba, Glinda attempts to win him around to her way of life.

Additionally, Boq (portrayed by Ethan Slater, Grande’s real-life lover) harbors feelings for Glinda but receives little reciprocation.

«Oz is a very queer place and has always been, even from the L. Frank Baum books,» Grande said in the interview. It has consistently been queer.

Nov. 22 is when Wicked opens in cinemas.
