Hailee Steinfeld and Josh Allen Are Engaged After a Romantic Rose-Filled Proposal: ‘They’ve Been Smitten Since Day One’

On Friday, November 29, the Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse actress, 27, and Buffalo Bills quarterback, 28, shared the exciting news that they are set to tie the knot following their engagement last week.

The couple took to Instagram to post a romantic photo capturing the moment Allen proposed.

In the picture, Allen is seen down on one knee in front of Steinfeld, surrounded by an elegant arch of pink and red roses by a scenic waterfront. The post was simply captioned with the date: «Nov. 22.»

Fans and friends quickly flooded the comments with congratulations, including several of Allen’s current and former Bills teammates, as well as fellow NFL players like Taiwan Jones, Isaiah McKenzie, and Trevor Lawrence.

«Congrats, brother!!!» wrote actor Chad Michael Murray, a Buffalo native, joining in on the wave of well-wishes for the happy couple.

A source close to the couple shared that their families are overjoyed about the engagement. «They’ve been completely smitten with each other since the beginning,» the insider revealed. «Both families couldn’t be happier.»

Steinfeld and Allen were first romantically linked in May 2023, not long after reports surfaced that the NFL star had ended his relationship with Brittany Williams. That same month, a source confirmed their budding romance, describing the pair as «enjoying themselves and having a great time.»

In August 2023, Allen appeared on the Pardon My Take podcast, where he alluded to some of the difficulties they encountered after their relationship became public knowledge.

Just last month, the actress shared details about their relationship in her newsletter «Beau Society,» as covered by Sports Illustrated. In the newsletter, she revealed that after they bought each other the same Christmas gift, they had to figure out how to avoid a «bad omen» in their relationship.

According to Steinfeld, they both purchased the same cooking knife, though in different colors, as they share a love for cooking together.

“After exchanging our knives, he told me about an old wives’ tale where if you give someone a knife as a gift, you must pay for it, or it could signal the end of the relationship,” she wrote. “So, we exchanged quarters to avoid that bad omen.”
