Fans had a lot to say about Ariana Grande’s viral video in which she grabs her wicked Costar Cynthia Erivo’s fingernail

During the Wicked press tour, Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo created a memorable moment. In a Tuesday, Nov. 19 interview with Out.com that was shared on the website’s Instagram, the celebrities were told that some of their gay fans were «taking the lyrics of ‘Defying Gravity’ and really holding space with that and feeling power in that.»

«I was unaware that was taking place,» Erivo, 37, who plays Elphaba in the film, stated. That has a lot of power. I wanted it,» she added, turning to face 31-year-old Grande.

Erivo went on to say, «I think that it’s really important for [Elphaba] in that moment to not allow the things that have hurt her, that have stripped her of her humanity, to keep her down,» alluding to the character’s stirring singing performance.

In what appeared to be a supportive gesture, Grande grasped Erivo’s long, green fingernail and gave it a quick tap throughout the conversation, paying reference to her Wicked character. Since then, the video has gone viral.

One Instagram commenter stated, «I’ve been thinking about Ariana holding Cynthia’s nail for a whole day,» and added, «I see this image every time I close my eyes.»
