Exclusive. Zendaya kept her growing relationship with Tom Holland a secret while working on K.C. Undercover, according to a costar
Zendaya and Tom Holland’s relationship has been kept largely private from the start.
According to Tammy Townsend, Zendaya’s former costar on K.C. Undercover, the two stars, both 28, made a conscious effort to keep their romance «under wraps» when they were first dating while Zendaya was working on the Disney Channel show and Holland starred in Spider-Man: Homecoming in 2017.
“I knew it was serious,” Townsend, 54, told while reflecting on the show’s 10th anniversary.
“Tom would just come through and see what we were doing.”
As Zendaya’s mother on the series, Townsend shares that the cast could tell there was a “strong connection” between the pair and had high praise for Holland, calling him “a really cool kid.”
Trinitee Stokes, Zendaya’s on-screen little sister, also shared her admiration for Holland, who spent some time on the K.C. Undercover set “just hanging around.”
“He’s so funny,” Stokes, 18, said of Holland. “I love Tom, and I honestly have been so happy to watch this progression in their relationship because he’s such a great guy.”
Watching their relationship evolve has been an “exciting journey,” she added.
The Spider-Man costars first sparked relationship rumors in 2017, with an insider revealing they “started seeing each other” while filming together.
Zendaya, however, clarified in August 2017 to *Variety* that they were “friends.”
By July 2021, the pair was photographed sharing a kiss in a car, confirming their relationship.
In September 2021, Holland made their romance Instagram official with a mirror selfie for Zendaya’s 25th birthday, calling her “my MJ.”
Zendaya returned the gesture before the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home, referring to Holland as “my Spider-Man.”
At the 2025 Golden Globes, Zendaya’s dazzling ring sparked speculation about their engagement, which was later confirmed by a family source.
A separate source revealed that «everyone close to them knew» it was coming.
