Exclusive. Angelina Jolie’s Next Acting Role Set During Paris Fashion Week

As far as her film jobs are concerned, Angelina Jolie is sticking in Paris.

Several media reports revealed on Tuesday, November 19, that Jolie, 49, has signed on to her next playing role in the film Stitches, which is the first English-language feature directed by French director Alice Winocour (2019’s Proxima).

The film is «set in the world of high fashion» and will mostly take place in Paris, according to Variety and Deadline. According to Variety, Jolie plays a filmmaker, and during Paris Fashion Week, her character is one of three women whose tales come together.

Both sources also mentioned that the film will be filmed in both English and French. In Paris, where Jolie famously filmed her next Netflix movie Maria, which will premiere on the streaming service on December 11, production is anticipated to start in early 2025.

Plot information and other cast members have not yet been revealed.

Jolie plays Maria Callas, the late opera soprano who passed away in Paris in 1977 at the age of 53 from a heart attack. The new film, which was directed by Pablo Larraín (Jackie, Spencer), «follows the American-Greek soprano as she retreats to Paris after a glamorous and tumultuous life in the public eye,» according to a synopsis.

It also follows Callas «in her final days as the diva reckons with her identity and life.»

In August, Jolie’s most recent film had its global debut at the Venice Film Festival. It then went on to play at the Telluride Film Festival and the New York Film Festival in the autumn, where she was praised by reviewers for her portrayal of Callas and got standing ovations. An insider close to the actress stated on September 4 that Jolie was «overwhelmed and so grateful for all the positive feedback about» the movie.

Jolie most recently appeared at the 15th Governors Awards on Sunday, November 17, to promote her new film, which is her first acting endeavor since the 2021 Marvel film Eternals.

Maria opens in cinemas on November 27 and goes live on Netflix on December 11.
