Demi Moore suggests that the producer who once labeled her a «popcorn actress» has pаssed away, remarking that he’s now «rolling over in his grаve.»
Demi Moore is hinting at the identity of a producer who once referred to her as «a popcorn actress.»
During her Golden Globe acceptance speech on January 5, Moore, 62, mentioned a man who had once belittled her career potential.
On the February 5 episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live, she reflected on how those comments affected her at the time.
«What someone else says or doesn’t say doesn’t matter.
It’s all about how you handle it,» she began. «While I may have interpreted his words the way he meant them, what really mattered was how I let it define me.
I made it mean that I would never be someone recognized in such an arena or platform, that awards were out of reach for me…
But it wasn’t his fault—he simply said those words. That’s the difference.»
When Kimmel asked if she thought the unnamed producer had heard her speech, Moore responded, «He may have been rolling over in his grave.»
Moore left the Golden Globes audience in awe with her acceptance speech after winning for The Substance, a body-horror satire for which she’s also received nominations at the Critics’ Choice Awards (February 7), SAG Awards (February 23), and Academy Awards (March 2).
«Oh wow. I wasn’t expecting this at all. I’m in shock right now.
I’ve been doing this for over 45 years, and this is the first time I’ve ever won anything as an actor,» she shared during her speech.
Reflecting on the «popcorn actress» remark, Moore admitted, «I bought into that and believed it about myself for many years.»
She continued, «That really ate away at me, to the point where a few years ago, I thought maybe I was done, that I’d reached my limit and had done what I was meant to do.»
