Demi Moore expresses that her ex-husband, Bruce Willis, will «always be family,» adding, «There is life after divorce.»
Demi Moore holds deep affection for her ex-husband, Bruce Willis, and continues to support him in every way possible.
In an interview with Variety published on February 6, Moore, 62, discussed her Academy Award nomination for The Substance and reflected on her relationship with Willis, 69, whom she divorced in 2000 after 13 years of marriage.
Since their separation, Willis has remarried Emma Heming Willis in 2009 and was diagnosed with aphasia in 2022, followed by a diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia in 2023.
Moore, who shares daughters Rumer, 36, Scout, 33, and Tallulah, 31, with Willis, emphasized that despite their divorce, their bond remains strong.
«We will always be a family, just in a different form,» she said. Willis and Emma, who also have daughters Mabel, 12, and Evelyn, 10, are supported by Moore, who visits regularly and maintains a close relationship with them.
«For me, there was never a question. I show up because that’s what you do for the people you love,» Moore added.
She believes her relationship with Willis and her approach to co-parenting can be an inspiration to others.
«I hope it’s encouraging for others to see that there’s a different way to do things,» she said. «There is life after divorce. There is a way to co-parent with love.»
Moore echoed these sentiments during a December 5 interview with CNN’s Christiane Amanpour.
«Even from when Bruce and I separated, it was important for me to recognize that we’re a family and will always be a family, just in a different form,» Moore explained.
«That form may evolve, but there is a way for us all to be together.»
Moore also provided an update on Willis’ health, stating, «Given the circumstances, he’s in a very stable place right now.»
She praised the importance of meeting loved ones where they are emotionally, offering compassion and joy despite the challenges.
Looking ahead, Moore’s next awards opportunity for The Substance follows her Golden Globe win in January, with a nomination for Best Actress at the Critics Choice Awards.
