Blake about donning Britney’s actual dress for the movie premiere
The most recent stop on the IT Ends with Us press tour had Blake Lively imitating the look of a music superstar, an achievement that left her speechless.
At the movie’s red carpet debut in New York City on Tuesday, August 6, Lively, 36, went all out. She honored Britney Spears by dressing in a vintage Versace gown that the «Gimme More» singer wore in 2002.
Exclusively speaking to PEOPLE, Lively states, «It is Britney’s actual dress.» «The Smithsonian or the Met should have it. However, I’m responsible. I’m quite fortunate.»
Complementing her floral-themed wardrobe for the full summer, which is inspired by her on-screen character Lily Bloom and her flower store, the Versace dress features a few beaded flowers on her waist.
The multicolored, sequined dress features a distinct cutaway across her bodice and a halter neckline that is one shoulder.
Lorraine Schwartz’s fine jewelry line featured brilliant pink and pastel blue rings that matched the dress’s colors, and she accented the look with matching dangling drop earrings.
She donned iridescent strappy heels and kept her shoe selection basic.
Her glitz also complemented the hues of the outfit. Lively’s matte lipstick looked great with a subtle pink eyeshadow look. Her beautiful blonde hair flowed freely down her back where she had left it.
On Tuesday, Lively also posted a heartfelt tribute to the famous singer on her Instagram Stories, saying, «Todays mood.»
She added, «The ultimate queen who inspired us all to shine, write, and share our stories,» alongside a picture of Spears in the Versace outfit from 2002.
«Britney, us millennials all have a story of a moment, or of years that you made us want to shine and inspire awe, with strength, and joy and immensely hard work,» she said.
«Thank you for your example and your contribution to women telling their stories.»
Ryan Reynolds, who also paid homage to Lively’s persona by donning an olive green suit and a white floral boutonniere, accompanied Lively on the red carpet.
