Beyoncé Confesses She Forgot to Mention Daughter Rumi, 7, for Her Role in Cowboy Carter During 2025 Grammy Speech
Beyoncé Realizes She Forgot to Thank One Special Person in Her Grammy Speech—Her Daughter Rumi!
After finally securing her long-awaited Album of the Year win at the 2025 Grammy Awards, Cowboy Carter artist Beyoncé, 43, reflected on the emotional moment in an interview with *ET*’s Kevin Frazier.
She described the experience as «surreal,» acknowledging her 25-year journey of dedication, growth, and breaking barriers in the industry.
Beyoncé expressed how «honored» and «happy» she was to have her 13-year-old daughter, Blue Ivy, witness the milestone.
However, she also admitted she accidentally left out someone very special in her acceptance speech—her younger daughter, Rumi, 7.
«She’s taller than me now. I don’t like it at all!» Beyoncé joked about Blue Ivy before adding, «I’m so happy she was there.
And Rumi—who is actually on the album—was watching. I forgot to thank her, so I’ll do it now. Thank you, Rumi!»
Rumi contributed to Cowboy Carter by lending her voice to the track PROTECTOR, opening the song with the sweet request: «Mom, can I hear the lullaby, please?»
Despite their global fame, Beyoncé and Jay-Z prioritize keeping their family life as normal and private as possible.
Speaking to GQ in October 2024, Beyoncé explained how she has set firm boundaries to balance her career and motherhood.
«One thing I’ve worked extremely hard on is ensuring my kids have as much normalcy and privacy as possible, making sure my personal life isn’t turned into a brand,» she said.
«It’s easy for celebrities to turn their lives into performance art.»
She also shared that she carefully plans her tours around her children’s schedules, saying, «I try to only tour when my kids are out of school.
I always dreamt of a life where I could see the world with my family and expose them to different languages, architecture, and lifestyles.»
Beyoncé and Jay-Z, who tied the knot in 2008 after nearly a decade together, welcomed their first child, Blue Ivy, in January 2012. Their twins, Rumi and Sir, arrived in June 2017.
«Raising three kids isn’t easy. The older they get, the more they become their own individuals with unique needs, hobbies, and social lives,» she told *GQ*.
«My twins are a blessing. Parenting teaches you so much about yourself—it requires patience and prayer, but I love it. It keeps me grounded and fulfilled.»
