Ariana Grande recently confirmed that she and Cynthia Erivo would be more than willing to perform at the Academy Awards, saying, «Just say the word and we’ll be there.»
Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo are gearing up to take flight with a stunning *Wicked* performance at the 97th Academy Awards.
During an interview at the Golden Globes First-Time Nominee Celebration on December 17, Grande, 31, opened up about the possibility of performing at the Oscars alongside Erivo, 37, both of whom were nominated for the prestigious awards.
The singer and actress shared her excitement at the thought of teaming up with Erivo for a live performance.
«We absolutely love singing together,» Grande said, expressing her enthusiasm about the idea of performing with Erivo. «I’d sing with her anywhere, anytime, especially in celebration of *Wicked*. She’s like a sister to me. Just say the word, and we’re there.»
*Wicked* has become one of the biggest box office successes of 2024 and is receiving widespread critical acclaim.
The film earned four Golden Globe nominations, including nods for Grande and Erivo’s standout roles as Glinda and Elphaba, respectively.
«We were just overwhelmed with emotion, crying and screaming, and then we immediately sent each other flowers,» Grande shared about her and Erivo’s reactions to their Golden Globe nominations. «I feel so deeply proud of her, and of us together — the work we’ve done. To see it recognized is more meaningful than I ever imagined.»
As they eagerly await the Oscar nominations, which will be revealed on January 17, 2025, Grande and Erivo will find out if their performances, along with their hit film, have earned any recognition.
«We had the incredible honor of meeting Steven Spielberg, and it was such a surreal and humbling experience.
He was so kind, and it was just so exciting,» Grande reflected. «When you have idols in both music and film, and then you hear kind words about your work, it’s truly something extraordinary.»
