Could Ariana Grande be taking on Audrey Hepburn’s iconic role?
During the National Board of Review’s 2025 gala on January 7, Ariana Grande humorously responded to rumors that she might star as Audrey Hepburn in a biopic.
«Oh my goodness, why is everyone asking me this? You’re insane!» the 31-year-old singer and actress laughed when the topic came up. «You’re insane, you’re insane, you’re insane. I love you.»
The interviewer’s comment about Grande’s recent event fashion, which they likened to Hepburn’s style, prompted the playful response.
Grande explained, «I’ve always loved old-Hollywood glamour — Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn have always been my references.»
She went on to share her affinity for retro fashion, especially the silhouettes from the ’50s and ’60s. «I can’t even think of a time when that wasn’t my vision board,» she added. «But it’s been more fun to have more opportunities to really do that.»
Grande wore a custom Loewe pastel pink backless satin gown to the event, with a structured bodice and a sleek high ponytail, embodying the glamorous vintage style she loves.
While addressing the possibility of playing Hepburn, Grande told Entertainment Tonight, «That would have to be done so well and so perfectly… I don’t know,» acknowledging the kind words of the reporter who suggested she could pull it off.
Rumors about Grande playing the screen legend have circulated due to her recent wardrobe choices, such as the yellow Givenchy dress she wore to the 2025 Golden Globe Awards, a nod to her role as Glinda in *Wicked*.
However, in January 2022, Rooney Mara was confirmed to star as Hepburn in a biopic directed by Luca Guadagnino.
While the project has faced delays, Mara recently mentioned in February 2024 that it’s still «very much alive,» though the director has changed.
