Ariana Grande is «overcome with emotion,» as expected, following her Academy Award nomination.

Ariana Grande is officially an Academy Award nominee!

On Thursday, January 23, the 31-year-old singer and actress earned her first-ever Oscar nomination, landing a spot in the Best Supporting Actress category for her role in *Wicked*.

She joins an impressive group of nominees, including Monica Barbaro (*A Complete Unknown*), Felicity Jones (*The Brutalist*), Isabella Rossellini (*Conclave*), and Zoe Saldaña (*Emilia Pérez*), all vying for the honor at the 97th Academy Awards on March 2.

Sharing her emotions with fans, Ariana posted on Instagram, «Picking my head up in between sobs to say thank you so much to @theacademy for this unfathomable recognition.

I cannot stop crying, to no one’s surprise.»

Her post included a heartwarming throwback photo of her as a toddler dressed as Dorothy from *The Wizard of Oz*, alongside a video of her singing “Defying Gravity” from *Wicked* and some behind-the-scenes shots with her co-star Cynthia Erivo, who also received an Oscar nomination in the Best Actress category.

In her post, Ariana expressed deep gratitude, writing, «I’m humbled and deeply honored to be in such brilliant company, and sharing this with tiny Ari who sat and studied Judy Garland singing ‘Somewhere Over the Rainbow’ just before the big, beautiful bubble entered.

I’m so proud of you, tiny.» She also thanked *Wicked* director Jon M. Chu for believing in her, calling him «the most unbelievably brilliant leader, human being, and fierce friend.»

Ariana continued to share her joy for her *Wicked* family, praising Cynthia Erivo and adding, «Your brilliance is never ending, and you deserve every flower (tulip) in every garden. I love you unconditionally, always.»

As the Oscars approach, Ariana’s nomination is part of a wave of recognition for *Wicked*, which received 10 nominations in total, tied for the second-most this year with *The Brutalist*.

Ariana is also nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the Critics Choice Awards and the SAG Awards, both of which will take place in February.

Concluding her post with gratitude, she wrote, «Lemons and melons and pears, oh my. 🫧»
