Ariana Grande chose to miss the 2025 Grammys, even with three nominations, while her Wicked co-star Cynthia Erivo was in attendance.
Ariana Grande made the decision to skip the 2025 Grammys despite earning three nominations this awards season.
The 31-year-old singer was nominated for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for «The Boy Is Mine» with Brandy and Monica, Best Pop Vocal Album for Eternal Sunshine, and Best Dance Pop Recording for «Yes, And?».
Despite these accolades, many of Grande’s fans expressed disappointment as the Recording Academy did not nominate her for any of the major categories, such as Album of the Year, Record of the Year, or Song of the Year.
While Grande chose not to attend the Grammys, she did make an appearance at the 2025 Golden Globe Awards in early January, where she was nominated for her portrayal of Galinda Upland in Wicked.
Her Wicked co-star Cynthia Erivo, meanwhile, was at the February 2 ceremony to honor Quincy Jones in a special performance alongside other music icons like Stevie Wonder, Herbie Hancock, and Janelle Monáe.
Grande recently hinted at a deluxe version of *Eternal Sunshine*, calling it «a very special project.»
She shared with Variety, «I’m out there so much right now. I want to let my children miss me for two seconds.
I’m excited to surprise them with it at some point, but I’m still mulling over the timing in my head.
It’s not the end of ‘Peaches’ just yet, but she’s going in the closet for a minute.»
Focusing on her acting career, Grande explained that she chose not to tour her latest album.
«I was considering a mini-tour between the Wicked films, but I’ve decided to prioritize acting for now,» she told Variety.
«Performing will always be a part of my life, but I want to focus on this chapter of storytelling through film.»
Grande, who recently earned her first Oscar nomination for her role in Wicked, expressed her gratitude on Instagram, saying, «Picking my head up in between sobs to say thank you so much to @theacademy for this unfathomable recognition.
I cannot stop crying, to no one’s surprise,» she wrote.
«I’m humbled and deeply honored to be in such brilliant company and sharing this with tiny Ari who sat and studied Judy Garland singing Somewhere Over the Rainbow just before the big, beautiful bubble entered. I’m so proud of you, tiny.»
