Angelina Jolie is hopeful that Brad Pitt will «stop targeting her» following their divorce, while a source close to Pitt criticizes the «misrepresentation of facts» (Exclusive).
Angelina Jolie is hopeful that 2025 will bring a fresh start for her and Brad Pitt after they finalized their lengthy divorce battle.
On Monday, December 30, the former couple officially ended their divorce proceedings, bringing closure to a legal matter that began when Jolie filed for divorce in September 2016.
Jolie’s attorney, James Simon of Hersh Mannis, shared that the 49-year-old actress has been focused on «finding peace and healing for their family.»
He added, «Honestly, Angelina is exhausted, but she feels relief that this chapter is finally over.» A representative for Pitt, 61, declined to comment on the finalization.
An insider close to Jolie reveals that she is hopeful Pitt will now «move on» and «stop targeting her.»
The source claims, «Brad has used his power and privilege to shield his actions, punishing Angelina for leaving and trying to portray her as the cause of his strained relationship with the children.»
«Angelina is hopeful that the divorce’s conclusion will allow him to move forward, stop attacking her, and focus on healing their family,» the source adds.
However, a representative for Pitt disagrees with this view, telling that Jolie has been engaging in «unilateral attacks for the past eight years, distorting facts and projecting her own behavior onto others, causing significant harm to those involved with the family.»
Though they have settled their divorce, the former spouses, who share six children, are still entangled in a separate lawsuit regarding the French winery they once co-owned.
Pitt is suing Jolie for allegedly violating their agreement when she sold her half of Château Miraval for $67 million in October 2021.
In June 2024, Jolie’s lawyer stated in the ongoing case that Pitt should «end the fighting and set their family on a path to healing» by withdrawing the lawsuit.
On December 30, an insider close to Jolie said, «Until he drops his lawsuit, this family won’t experience the peace and healing they truly need and deserve.» The source emphasized, «As long as the Miraval lawsuit continues, Angelina will continue standing up to him.»
On December 31, a source close to Pitt argued that the Miraval case is a prime example of Jolie’s approach to attacking him.
«Brad built a remarkable, valuable business, and she deliberately ignored their agreement.
Instead of negotiating a buyout to keep Miraval within the family and end the conflict, she chose to sell to a stranger who doesn’t align with the company’s vision, just to take the money and punish him,» said the source.
In November, a representative for Pitt noted that his recent legal victories in the winery case «validate his claims and once again show that the other side’s statements lack substance.»
