Angelina Jolie claims that she shares «a certain loneliness» with Maria Callas, the subject of a new movie
Maria Callas and Angelina Jolie developed a close bond.

The 49-year-old actress talks candidly about playing the well-known opera singer in the forthcoming biopic during an exclusive interview at the American Film Institute Festival’s Maria premiere in Hollywood on Saturday, October 26.
Jolie claims that she and Callas both experience a «certain loneliness» that results from being devoted to their jobs.

Regarding her relationship with Callas, she states, «I don’t want to speak too much about it because it’s too personal, but there’s definitely a loneliness and a work ethic.» «I may be many things, but I’m a very hard worker, right?»
«I’m an imperfect person, but I work very hard and she does,» the Oscar winner continues.

Jolie adds that she is unsure if she and Callas would see themselves «as anything but a performer and a worker who has a job to do,» and that they are both «probably very hard on ourselves.»
Pablo Larraín, the director of Jackie and Spencer, is directing the forthcoming drama.
According to a summary, it follows «the American-Greek soprano as she retreats to Paris after a glamorous and tumultuous life in the public eye,»

Kodi Smit-McPhee, Pierfrancesco Favino, Valeria Golino, and Alba Rohrwacher also feature in the movie.
At its September debut at the New York Film Festival, the film was met with a standing ovation.
«I’m so happy to be here tonight,» Jolie stated while performing on stage. And I’m thrilled to be on stage with my close friends and these very brilliant, amazing folks.»

She went on, «I hope you see in this film how much we really care for the people whose lives we’re sharing with you and how much they also loved art.»
Maria will be available on Netflix on December 11 and in select cinemas on November 27.
