Amber Turner fans were left horrified when the TOWIE star posed with an elephant who had the ends of its tusks cut off, in photos shared to her Instagram.

She had been in Bali with the rest of the cast in February to film series 32 of the reality program, which is currently airing.

The blonde beauty, 30, wore a tiny bikini and white sleeves and maxi skirt for her latest Instagram post, but fans were left distressed by the photo.

The comments from some of the star’s almost 900,000 followers read: ‘Why are the end of the tusks cut off’ with a crying emoji.

‘That poor elephant has had its tusks sawn off and is being exploited for your entertainment. You were posing with a slave!’

‘You have no idea how wrong this is, sorry’.

There are conflicting reports about whether cutting tusks, especially just the ends, hurts elephants or not.

And the elephant may well have been rescued after its tusks were cut off.

The International Fund For Animal Welfare says: ‘Elephants feel an immense amount of pain if someone cuts off their tusks. Tusks are deeply rooted incisors with nerve endings.

‘When severed, those nerve endings are exposed and can easily become infected, leading to death.’

However, the Washington, U.S. national zoo revealed it trimmed its elephant’s tusks because ‘a broken tusk can sometimes split up the tusk and impact the pulp cavity’, located at the very top of the tusks.

In TOWIE, Amber’s storyline consists of her dealing with the awkwardness of her ex Dan Edgar’s new relationship with Ella Rae Wise.

Dan, 33, and Ella, 23, grew close while filming for the thirty-third series, but are not thought to be serious.
