With 99 nominations, Beyoncé is officially the most nominated artist in the history of the Grammy Awards, the Recording Academy verified after announcing the complete list of 2025 Grammy Awards nominees on Friday, Nov. 8.
The Cowboy Carter singer received 11 nominations this year alone, including best country solo performance for «16 CARRIAGES,» best country duo/group performance with Miley Cyrus for «II MOST WANTED,» best country song for «TEXAS HOLD ‘EM,» best country album, best Americana performance for «YA YA,» and best pop duo/group performance for «LEVII’S JEANS» with Post Malone.
Beyoncé has previously held a Grammy Award record. In addition to being the most-awarded artist in Grammy history with 32 wins, she previously matched with her husband, JAY-Z, for the most nominations (88).
Following considerable controversy during the previous year’s Grammy Awards, where JAY-Z criticized the Recording Academy for repeatedly ignoring his wife in the album of the year category, the musician received record-breaking nominations.
The 54-year-old rapper remarked, «We want y’all to get it right,» when he won the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award. «At least approaching correctly. And it’s subjective, of course. You don’t have to applaud every single thing. Since it’s music and based on opinions, it’s obviously subjective.
«But, you know, some things — I don’t want to embarrass this young lady, but she has more Grammys than everyone and never won album of the year,» he said, alluding to Beyoncé. Therefore, that is ineffective even by your own standards. Consider that.
Never won album of the year, yet has the most Grammys. That isn’t effective.
Beyoncé had received four album of the year nominations at that point.
