According to a source, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have not received an invitation to join the Royal Family’s Christmas celebration at Sandringham.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will not be attending the Royal Family’s Christmas celebration at Sandringham this year.
A source shared that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have not been extended an invitation to this year’s festive gathering. Instead, the couple is expected to spend the holiday season in the United States.
This continues their absence from royal Christmas traditions, which they last participated in back in 2018, the year of their marriage.
Earlier this year, Harry, 40, and Meghan, 43, were also excluded from Trooping the Colour in June, the annual event celebrating King Charles’ birthday. The exclusion followed an earlier missed opportunity for Harry to meet his father during his trip to the U.K. for the Invictus Games’ tenth-anniversary celebration.
Prince William, Kate Middleton, and their three children—Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis—are expected to celebrate Christmas at Sandringham this year.
However, both Buckingham Palace and Kensington Palace, home to the Prince and Princess of Wales’ office, have declined to comment on the official guest list.
The King, now 76, last met with Prince Harry in February, shortly after publicly revealing his cancer diagnosis on February 5. Since that meeting, their relationship has reportedly soured, with insiders claiming that the King no longer answers his younger son’s calls or responds to his letters.
Prince Harry, meanwhile, is said to be deeply concerned for the safety of Meghan and their children, Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3. According to sources, Harry has repeatedly reached out to his father for assistance but has received no response.
“Harry is deeply worried and believes his father is the only one who can intervene,” a royal insider revealed. Another source added, “He is resolute in his commitment to protecting his family at all costs.”
In January 2020, Harry and Meghan made the decision to step down as working royals and move to Montecito, California, where they have since settled. A close friend revealed, “They felt they had no other option.
Leaving was the only way to preserve their well-being. I believe they hoped that by stepping outside the royal bubble, the intense scrutiny would diminish.”
