A young boy lost his life after a popular TikTok challenge took a devastating turn, according to his grieving mother.
11-Year-Old Boy Tragically Dies After Allegedly Attempting Viral TikTok Challenge
Tommie-Lee Billington, an 11-year-old boy from Lancaster, was discovered unresponsive at a friend’s home on Saturday.

He was quickly taken to the hospital around midday, but despite efforts by medical staff, he was sadly pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
His devastated grandmother, Tina Burns, believes the tragedy was linked to a dangerous social media trend known as «chroming»—a viral TikTok challenge that involves inhaling toxic substances.
Tina revealed that two teenage girls have reportedly already died from the same trend. “He passed away instantly,” she shared. “The boys had tried the TikTok craze.
Tommie-Lee suffered cardiac arrest on the spot and could not be revived, no matter how hard the hospital tried. He was already gone.”
Describing Tommie as having a “heart of gold” like his late father, Tina added, “Our entire family is shattered.” Tommie’s mother, Sherri, echoed the warning and pleaded with other parents to be vigilant.
In a heartfelt Facebook post, she wrote: “This took my son’s life—he was simply copying what other kids were doing online.”
She continued, “Please talk to your children about the consequences of these trends. I can’t understand why anyone would even try something so dangerous.”
The schoolboy was remembered as someone who could light up any room with his energy and presence. One of his teaching assistants, also named Tina, is now urging families to keep their children off social media platforms.

“We don’t want any more children exposed to these deadly challenges,” she said. “In fact, we believe platforms like TikTok should not be accessible to anyone under 16.
This loss is destroying us, but we want to raise awareness so other families don’t suffer the same pain.” Lancashire Police have confirmed that an investigation is underway. A spokesperson stated:
“We were called by paramedics at 12:04 p.m. on Saturday, March 2, following reports of a sudden death at an address on Greenset Close, Lancaster.
Emergency services found an 11-year-old boy unresponsive. He was sadly declared deceased shortly after. The death is currently being treated as unexplained and the coroner has been notified.
The boy’s family is being supported, and our thoughts are with them during this incredibly difficult time.”
Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
Health experts have issued warnings about «chroming,» explaining that it can lead to unconsciousness, fatal asphyxiation, and sudden heart failure.
TikTok has reportedly been contacted for comment regarding the incident.
