A Guardian Spirit Among Us!

A Guardian Spirit Among Us!

On a frigid winter day, she was discarded from a car in the parking lot of our local K-mart. For over a year, she wandered alone, surviving in the lot and the nearby woods.

Abandoned, terrified, and wary of everyone, she endured one of the harshest winters we’d seen in years.

With snow, ice, and freezing temperatures, it’s hard to imagine how frightened she must have been.

Her survival came from scraps of food left behind by kind-hearted employees and passersby. Then, she was noticed by three rescuers, who named her «Angel.»

Each day, the three of us spent time feeding her, talking to her, and building a bond, but she remained too scared to let us touch her.

Despite our efforts, others began chasing her through the woods, shooting BB guns at her, tormenting her for fun. We constructed a sheltered hut for her, filled with straw and blankets, and continued to feed her every day.

Sadly, she was even featured in the local newspaper as a «vicious dog,» which couldn’t have been further from the truth.

She wasn’t vicious—she was simply searching for love and a place to call home. We refused to give up on her. After several failed attempts, and with the help of my vet, two of his vet techs, and my husband, we finally managed to sedate her.

The stress of trying to escape that day, combined with the sedatives, took its toll, and she collapsed, unresponsive.

My husband rushed her to the car, her limp body in his arms. After performing chest compressions, we made it to the vet, where she started to breathe again—new life beginning for her.

That was January 22, 2015. Just four days later, on January 26, she joined our family.

It took a year of rehabilitation, but today she’s a different dog. She’s smart, loving, and full of happiness.

She enjoys walks, sleeps at the foot of my bed, and has found her forever home with her three dog siblings. She is my “Angel,” and I’m so grateful she found her way into my heart.
